It appears as though the Railway Department has seriously considered the proposition placed before it by the Foxton Chamber of Commerce to construct a light railway line to the beach, says an exchange. The district traffic manager and engineer have visited Foxton on several occasions lately, and it is understood that surveyors ar© already busy taking levels. An estimate for the work will Iks submitted to the Minister for consideration and sanction at an early date. Air T. C. List, proprietor and editor of the “Taranaki News,” New Plymouth, is at present on a business visit to Wellington, Mr List leaves for New Plymouth to-morrow.
