KRIM SEEKING PEACE

WILL FRANCE NEGOTIATE? CABINET MEETS TO DECIDE. Reuter’s Terrain PARIS, May 24. Apparently a new peace move is being made in Morocco. Official quarters at Paris confirm the report that a member of tbe Red Cross mission to the Riffs has arrived at Fez with a letter from Abd-el-Krim for M. Stecg, the French Resident Commissioner. The French Council of Ministers will discuss the letter to-morrow. MAY DEMAND HIS SURRENDER (Received Mav 25, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, May 25. Krim’s offer to accept the French peace terms followed the capture of Targuist, which means that the Fran-co-Spanish forces occupy the whole of the eastern half of the Riff country. The French progress during the last 10 days of the offensive amounts to an advance of 15 miles on a front of 100 miles. The tribes on which Krim chiefly relied have deserted him. The “Doily Express” correspondent says tho French Government will probably refuse to negotiate with Krim, and will demand his personal surrender. “FIGHT TO THE DEATH* LOYAL TRIBES’" DECISION. (Svdney “Son” Cable.) TANGIER, May 24. Riff couriers report that Abd el Krim summoned his loyal tribal leaders and declared that his resources were almost exhausted, and the position hopeless. He gave them the free choice of submitting to France and Spain or fighting to the death shoulder to shoulder with himself. The tribes decided to fight.
