COMMUNITY HOTEL FIRST IN NEW ZEALAND ENTERPRISE AT TE KUITI (By Telegraph.—Special to “Times.”) AUCKLAND, May 54. The first community hotel to be established in tlio Dominion will be erected as the result dr the enterprise of the people of Te Kuiti, where a public company has been formed to carry througli the enterprise. Thu company, winch' has been registered, will have a capital ot £25,001), of which 8000 shares have been taken up in X'e K uiu. A vastly increased tourist traffic, consequent upon the metalling of the through roan to TaianaKi, has rendered the existing hotel accommodation inadequate. The company therefore proposes to acquire a central block in the town upon which the Grand Hotel now stands, and on this site will be built a modern hotel, which will ho owned and controlled by the people of Te Kuiti. The community hotel kleit has been successfully adopted in many towns in the United States, a country world famed for the accommodation it offers tourists, The hotel will be an expertment as far as New Zealand is concerned. It is felt, however, that Te Kuiti is an excellent centre for its establishment, and tbo idea has met with good support in (he town and district. The directors are all public men of the district, and the chairman of the board is the Mayor cf Te Kuiti. At present only 8000 shares have been placed on tbo market, anil those have heen tak'n up mostly in small parcels of from 25 to 200 shares.
