TERMINATION OF SUBSIDY RUHR MINES HARD-HIT. Published in “The Times.” BERLIN, April 28. Speaking at a meeting of German industrial and commercial representatives, Dr. Luther, the Chancellor, welcomed the British Coal Commission’s rejection of the idea of continuing the coal subsidy. The serious effect of the, subsidy on German coal, he said, could he gauged from the fact that the coal output from the Ruhr was 1,350,000 tons in March, compared with 1,600,000 tons in July of last year while 377,000 men were employed in the Ruhr in March, compared with 423,000 in July last, and mines were still closing down or working short time.
