TRACK INBADTeONDITION STAR STRANGER LAME (By Telegraph.—Special to “Times.”) HASTINGS. April 29. The rain that fell last night and today in the Mnnnwatu and the southern part of Hawke’s Bay did not roach Hastings, and though the prospects are not too bright for rain, at the time of wiring, a good deal would have to fall to affect the tracks, which are in a bad condition as a result of the drought. Star Stranger, to-day, has been under a cloud. He is lame, and the leg was poulticed. Every endeavour is being made to get him fit, and if possible he will start. This morning me galloped once round in 1.39. 'Hie latest whisper about town is Kilfaire, who won last year. Royal Damon is the prime fancy foi the open sprint, in which he will be ridden bv E. Dunn. Both Reremonana and Glentruin are in groat nick for their battle in the Stakes. Rapine has also done well since Awapuni.
