WELLINGTON ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. A well attended meeting of the executive council was held in Mr Castle’s room last evening. Mr T. Fathers, who presided, made reference to the great loss caused by the death of the Rev. John Crewes, who was the founder and first president of the society. The valuable services rendered and* the deep interest taken by him in the/aims and objects for which the society exists will ever b<s greatly appreciated, not only by us, but by the citizens generally. Members _ silently approved that a special minute be placed oh record. The secretary was authorised to communicate with the Canadian National Parks authorities with a view to obtaining some buffaloes (Bison) for the Zoo. Some discussion took place on the future .policy of the society in connection with further improving the Zoo, and several suggestions made were held over for consideration at the next meeting. A small subsidy was'voted for the purpose of publishing a classified list of the animals in Wellington Zoo in the next edition of the “Zoo Standard.” Hie secretary was instructed to write complimenting the City Council on the recent improvements to some of the cages at the Zoo.
