AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE

THE QUESTION OF SITE CLAIMS OF RANGITIKEI. Per Press Association. . WANGANUI, April 15. The meeting ot the committee appointed to assist in the selection of an agricultural college site to-day carried the following resolution: , “That this meeting hopes that the gentlemen responsible for the selection of a rite lor the proposed agricultural university will keep steadily in mind the tr\ie needs of and full meaning of agricultural university, and thereby concentrate upon obtaining, regardless of any district influence whatsoever, & site which will conform with the real needs of the university. This meeting further urges that in view of the problems in what is a growing industry the site selection committee should keep before it the-fact that Rangitikei district offers unlimited scope for txperiments in cereal growing, •as it is considered to be the granary of ’he ■North Island. It is further argued that the close proximity of the Rangitikoi district to several lands along tho Taranaki and Main Trunk lines which are deteriorating is a further reason why t.he university should be located in that district. This meeting believes that the land upon which the university is to .be built, and not the buildings will constitute a real university, and having in mind the low prices of the sites offered in the Rangitikei district urges t lat , every factor mentioned herein should be given the most earnest consideration.” The motion is to be presented to the Government by Messrs Glenn, Veitch, a ■£*,*» Dickie and Masters, former M .P.’s.
