POWER FROM WAIKAREMOANA
POVERTY BAY DISTRICT - LARGE LOAN AUTHORISED. Per Frees Association. UiauUU.Nr., March 24. By a majority of five to one the rate* payers of tho Poverty Bay Board's district, comprising Gisborne borough and Oook and Waitcohu counties, sanctioned the raising of a loan of £230,000 ofr the electrification of the district from the Government power station at Waikaremoana. Tho voting to-day was: Tor, 1200; against, 242. The Power Board can now sign an agreement with the Government which provides that Waikaremoana current sfiall bo available within three wars. The board will also assume control of the Borough Council’s electricity plant, probably from March 31st.
