TRAIN AND MOTOR
ANOTHER CROSSING SMASH SLIGHT INJURIES TO MOTORIST NO BELL AT CROSSING Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 14. A half-ton motor-truck crashed into a train at Totara avenue crcesing, near New Lynn station, at about 10.45 a.m. on Saturday. A passenger in the truck, Noel Cutler, of Golf road, New Lynn, received a severe cut to the head, and injuries to the left leg. Mr J. N. Graves, owner and driver of the truck, escaped with nothing worse than a few scratches. The truck itself was carried a couple of chains by the train, and was deposited in a shattered condition almost in the station. The train with which the truck collided was a mixed goods, bound from Auckland to Helensville. Totara avenue has been the scene of two motor accidents within the past six months. Five months ago a New Lynn resident in a motor-car collided with a train at the same spot. There is no warning bell at the crossing, and applications have been made at intervals by the New Lynn Town Board to the Bail way Department over a numbers of years for a warning signal.
