BRITISH GOODS
“NOWHERE MORE WELCOME” MR COATES’S MESSAGE TO HOME MANUFACTURERS AGENTS’ WORK PRAISED The New Zealand Associaton of British Manufacturers and Agents recently asked the Prime Minister if he would give a message for the manufacturers at Home, and Mr Coates in respone to this request, has sent the following statement to the association; “Nmvhero are British poods more welcome than in New Zealand, and the Dominion is the greatest consumer per capita of such goods. By a real Snd substantial preference both in Customs duties and in the placing of contracts, the New Zealand Government shows a strong desire to encourage the British manufacturer. It is plain, therefore, that with proper organisation, and with the feeling of goodwill existent, there is a splendid opportunity for the British manufacturer to expand his business here. Let him make a study of the requirements of the manufactures and keep in. close touch with importers and buying institutions in the Dominion, not only by resident agents, bnfc also by personal visits to the Dominion. “There is no doubt that the New Zealand Association of British Manufacturers and Agents is doing good work on sound lines in promoting the prestige of British goods, and that the organisation is worthy ot every encouragement, especially from the manuafeturers themselves in the United Kingdom.”—l am. etc., “J. G. COATES. Prime Minister.”
