RAIDED AGAIN
THREE CHINESE HOUSES EUROPEANs'oN PREMISES. Following a successful raid early on Thursday afternoon, in which 'three Chinese and six Europeans were found playing pakapoo, Sergeant Joyce and a number of constables made another visit to three premises situated in the Chinese quarter at, 1.30 on Saturday afternoon.
The police party from the Mount Cook Station was in charge of Sergeant Joyce, and with him were Constables Harvey, Le Compte, Beck, and Hedley. The premises of Ah Chine Leong, at 15-1, Taranaki street; Ah Young, 12, Haming street, and All Pek, 143, Taranaki street, were visited, and at each dwelling pakapoo was being play. ed,a nd anray of various gaming paraphenalia was discovered. The three Chinese, who were bailed on sureties of £SO each, will appear ii» the Magistrate’s Court this morning, charged with conducting common gaming nouses. Three Europeans—Albert Austin, William Costello, and Charles John Gore—will also appear to answer charges of having been found unlawfully on the various premises.
