The financial statement of the tour, issued by the Australian F.A., makes interesting 'reading: The gross gate receipts-were £19,903, yet the profit on. the tour is no more than £76. New South Wales receipts amounted to £12,289, by far the largest return, matches in Queensland producing £3901. From these receipts entertainment tax (£1616), ground rents (£2665), and ground, attendants’ wages (£424) have to.be deducted, the net gate receipts being, therefore, £15,195. ' , A further £9020 is accounted for as the cost off “bringing and returning English players,” "the items here being: Guarantee to English F.A., £5300; passages, £3296;.' and bonus to. players, £423. Under the heading of “cost of conttneting - tour” are travelling expenses of £1669, accommodation and laundry £1514, advertising and printing £1675. Then follow these deductions: Allowances and expenses of Australian players, £335. Honorarium tt Australian manager and players, £395. ' Also Allowance to injured players £ls, and change stolen £lB5.
