ISLAND BAY CARNIVAL
CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. The weekly meeting of the general oommittee was held in tho. Bowling. Club roam on Thursday evening, with Mr Clerk in’ the* chair and a large attendance of enthusiastic membere. The secretary- (Mr Ricketts) reported re the opening ceremony - and the electric lighting arrangements in connection with the carnival' for raising funds for a children's play area: - The organiser (Mr N. A. Ingram) reported on the result of the deputation to the - Scottish Society and publicity work. She .organiser also reported re Sags, bunting, confetti, etc.; and was instructed to arrange, for a fireworks display. -" ' The Patriotic Band is to attend at the opening ceremony, ana the Boys' Institute Band will play during the carnival. The Scottish Pipe Band is to parade the city prior to the carnival, and also on Easter Monday.The entertainment committee reported re the shingle and bobbed hair contest, the baby snow and baby carnival, and the "boy scouts’ “King Carnival." Arrangements were made for Miss Aitcheeon's illustrated-lecture on ’’Canada;’’ and also for the controlling of children’s day. There was a great deal of interest ana enthusiasm displayed at the meeting, tnd it whs felt that the arrangements Bade forecasted a complete success of file undertaking, and that in a few veeka the children's play area would be • reality.
