MINISTERIAL Hie Hon. W. Noeworthy hae return ed from the south. The Hon. Sir Francis Bell, who sails for Europe to-morrow, will be entertained by the members of the Cabinet at dinner this evening. Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., visited Wellington yesterday. Mr D. R. Hoggard has returned to Wellington. Dr. T. McKibbin, Director of the Division of Publia Hygiene, in on a visit to Auckland. The Public Trustee, Mr J. W. Macdonald, has been appointed a member of the Native Trust Office Board for a period of two years. Sir G. S. Lynde, chief mechanical engineer of the New Zeeland Railways, and Mrs Lynde are at present in Auckland. Captain Arthur Lee (R.A.8.0.) haa been appointed an inspector, of the Society for the Prevention of.CYuelty to Animals. Central Hotel guests in Auckland include Mr Geo. Urquhart (Rotorua), Mr H. O. Bateman (Wellington), Mr W. Tvm (Sydney), and Mr O. Smith (Raetihi). Mr W. M. Bolt, of Wellington, left for Dunedin last night at the request of the Wellington-Nelson Exhibition Committee, to arrange the Nelson fruit exhibit in the Nelson court. The Rev. W. H. Holloway, of Hikurangi, has decided to accept a call to Panestua. At a recent meeting of the Auckland Presbytery, members paid glowing tribute to the services rendered by both Mr and Mrs Holloway during the time they have been stationed in the north. Mr W. McLay, general manager foe Messrs Bryant and May, Bell and Co., in New Zealand, and president of tbs Newtown Bowling C3nV, will leave Wellington for Sydney by the Marama on April Ist to connect with the Oronsay at Sydney on April 14th. He will be accompanied by Mrs McLay and their two children. The many friends of Dr. G. H. Scholefield, of Wairarapa, will learn with deep regret of his bereavement, through the death of his sister, Miss ~R. M. Scholefield, of Sydney, which occurred at Dunedin on Sunday night. KHm Scholefield, whose illness had been of a protracted nature, was a prominent war worker, being attached to the Bed Cross division in Franre for several years during the war. Mr W. H. Hales, divisional superintendent of North Island Railways, is retiring' on snperannnation. Mr E. « Casey, inspecting engineer of the civil engineering branch, has been appoint-# ed Acting-Division Superintendent. Born in London forty years ago, Mr ; Casey joined the civil engineering FTaneh of the Railway Service in 1902, and has filled many important positions in the branch. Last year be became Inspecting: Engineer of Railways for the Dominion. For some years Mr tSisey was vice-president of the Railway Officers’ Institute. Mr Casey has always taken a keen interest in Rugby football; he is a member of the Auckland Rugby Union and is that union’s delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union. He has also taken an interest in debating and in 1911 won the champion cup at the Wellington competitions for impromptu epfeaking and debating.
