KERBSIDE PUMPS
MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL PERMITS WILL BE GRANTED. At the Mmkara County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday, the question of granting permits for kerbside Bowser pumps was discussed.; The councillors were in favour of them. RopUes to arious applications for the erection of kerbside pumps in the district (mostly around Porirua), were sent to the applicants. Permits will be granted subject to certain regulations which must be adhered to. Mr Beech stated that the Bowser pumps were much safer than the old tripod system of filling the cars. Also, it was easier for the cars to draw up alongside th» pumps than to drive into a garage and to back out again, as they had to 1 in most cases. Tha council decided to grant permission to all appliants provided they submit suitable plans and adhere to the council’s and the Government’s rules governing the erection of such pumps.
