DUE TO GAMBLING. Per Press Association PALMERSTON NORTH, March 12. At the Police Court to-day, James Henry Alfred Pedder, aged 47, pleaded guilty to the theft of sums of money totalling £49 41s 7d, the 1 property of the Miranui Co-operative Society, and wasoebmmitted to the Supreme Court for • sentence. The police stated (hat the accused had been secretary of the society since the middle of last year, and had cleared out' in February. An examination ot the books showed a deficiency. > Tbe accused attributed Wb action to gambling.
