. Next to Nelson’s Victory and the twodecker Implacable,'which Lord Beatty is trying to preserve, the’ oldest ship mentioned in the Navy List of to-day must be H.M-S. Eaglet, which is to be sold after being, relieved by H.M.S. Gbole. she was built in 1801 ns the Eagle, and bore that name until it was required in 1818 for a new airbraft-carrier. After good service at eea the Eaglet was taken to Liverpool as drillship for the Reserve, in 1883, and for many years has. been a familiar sight in Saltnoitee Dock then?. Her last service in action 3 r as a 8 far, back as 1818, in the capture f Trieste by a squadron under RearAdmiral T. F. Fremantle, -grandfather of ' the* present Admiral, Sir Edmund Fremantle.
