HISTORIC DUTCH TOWN

A free town of the Empire) Nijmegen joined the Hanseatic League and then the Utreelit Union, was occupied by the Spaniards for some wears, and taken by Turenne in 1672. , It was the Treaty of Nijmegen, between France and the Coalition of Holland, Spain and the Empire W.l® 7B * which marked the peaktof Louis ‘XIV s powor, destined soon after to decline tinder the steady pressure of William of Orange, afterwards'William 111.
