ARBITRATION COURT
STEWARDS ON TAMAHINE WHEN DOES EXCURSION BEGIN K Whether the stewards employed on the Union Steam Ship Company’s vessel Tamahine, during the excursion trips to Pelorus Sound, are entitled to the excursion rate of Is 3d per hour during the whole time the vessel ia absent from Wellington, or merely for the time between leaving Picton for the actual visit to the Sound, and return to that port on the same day, was the subject of a case in the Arbitration Court yesterday. His Honour Mr Justioe Frazer was on the bench, Mr W. G. Smith appearing for the company, and Air T. Young for the union.
The contention of the company was that the parts of the trip from Wellington to Picton and from Picton hack to Wellington, were only in accord, ance with the ordinary itinerary of the vessel, and would have to be taken whether the excursion to Pelorus Sound were undertaken or wot Judgment was reserved.
