THE STRAIGHT LINE AGAIN
Inverted pleats are gradually superseding godets both on coats and on frocks. We seem to be returning to the more or less straight line again, because inverted pleats do give the effect qf the straight silhouette, remarks an exchange wtiwjb. Our dance frocks still have godets, however; they may be as full and fluffy as you please 1 And some of them have long transparent sleeves with handkerchief cuffs, which makes them as suitable for the “dansant” as for the informal evening dance. I’ve often heard women referring to their jersey sports jumpers as their “football jerseys, }> fftit at a dress parade recently one of the mannequins ■wore a jumper which was a football jersey in actual fact. It had broad, horizontal stripes in black and pink. No, it didn't look pretty —not even on a very pretty mannequin!
