WAR IN CHINA
CANTON THREATENED Bv Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received March 10, 11.20 p.m.) PFiKIN, March 9. A telegram from Shanghai states that there are apprehending disturbances in the vicinity of Canton. The Chinese from the neighbouring districts of Canton are fleeing to Hongkong. Feng-Yuhsinng mined the entrance of the Pei river and put out all the customs lights. Hence Tientsin is now completely cut off from the sea. H.M.S. Foxglove is standing by.
