STRAND THEATRE
•‘THE STORM BREAKER” AND “THIS WOMAN.”
Heading a brilliant programme at the Strand Theatre to-day is “The Storm Breaker,” featuring House Peters. “The Storm Breaker” is a wonderfully gripping picture, based on Charles Guernon’s famous story of the same name. It is hard to believe that Guernon did not have Peters in mind when he wrote John Strong into "Titans.” Strong is one of those characters that Peters handles so well. Strong physically with a will that brooks no interference, he overawes the men and women of the little fishing village in which he is almost king. Love of the frail girl he has made liis wife, is love that delights in the great cower over her while he has the same kind of affection for the weaker brother. Yet in these two, John Strong who believed he had mastered the sea and owes his allegiance to no one—not even God, finally finds' his master. Peters was splendid in “The Tornado” and “Headwinds,” bnt in “The Storm Breaker” he is superb. His powerful personality reaches out from the screen and holds the audience in its grasp. There is also a feature film entitled “This Woman,” with Ricardo Cortez. Irene Rich and Louise Fazenda. There is a good supporting bill and excellent orchestral items.
