From Our Own Correspondent. MASTERTON, March 11. The Masterton A. and P. Association made an approximate profit of .£3OO over the recent show. The Lansdowne Ladies’ Guild held a shop day yesterday, the sum of £BO being realised. Rev. A. Beeson, of Featherston, Is to take up the Methodist charge at Ficton and Pelorus Sound. Messrs .T. M. Coralline, J l , W. Card, and W. B. Martin have been appointed to represent the Wairarapa Patriotio Association at the comine conference of patriotic societies at Wellington, The Masterton Harrier Club has ejected the following officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr G. Shaw; president, Mr I. Cameron: vice-presidents, Messrs T. AVyeth,-A. Donald, E. Reynolds, A. A. Nattrass, L A. Wadham, A. E, Vare; and Ur TJttley; secretary, Mr W. Ross; treasurer. Mr J. Kitchener; committee, Messrs H. Orman, J. Kitchener, C. Anderson. J Hunter, W. Winhall, J. Bradbury, R. Parnell, L. Emery and B. Bully; handicapper, Mr J. Hunter; timekeeper and sfnrters, Messrs E, Spicer nml S. Smith: delegato to sub-centre. Mr W. Winhall; to Wellington, Mr S. Hall; captain, Mr E. J. Heffer; vice-captains, Messrs W. Winhall, J. Hunter, and R. Emery. At a meeting of County Council representatives at Masterton yesterday the principle of county amalgamation was affirmed. The appeal of Arthur L. Morgan against the decision of the .magistrate fining him £lO and suspending his driver’s license for three months for reckless driving,, was dismissed by Mr Justice MacGregor at the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. In giving his decision His Honour said that he saw no reason to differ with the decision of the magistrate, and he would affirm the conviction and retain the penalty. Reckless driving had been clearly established, and the public had to be protected There was no doubt that appellant had not exercised sufficient care. On the Application of the police, the suspension of the license takes effect immediately.
