AMUNDSEN’S NEW AIRSHIP EFFICIENTLY EQUIPPED CRAFT WIRELESS APPARATUS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Australian .and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, March 9. From the wireless viewpoint, Captain Amundsen’s airship will be the most efficiently equipped craft that has ever taken to the air. Transmitting apparatus will enable tbe commander +o communicate with land and ships up to a thousand milek. The airship will, therefore, never lose contact with civilisation. . A special direction-finding device has been installed te assist navigation. It will be also sufficiently sensitive to enable the navigators accurately to determine their course, oven when over the Pole itself, when ordinary communication would be valueless, (fell directions being due south. The direction-finder will enable any station to be picked up by huge loops erected round the envelope of the airship. trials'made . SATISFACTORY RESULTS. ROME, March 9. The trials of Captain Amundsen’s dirigible have been satisfactory. A new feature is a tethering pole, which is lowered Horn the airship’s nose, from which it is also adjusted. &
