ODDFELLOWS’ MEET

GATHERING AT PAHIATUA. Vcr Press Association. PAHIATUA, March 10. Over forty delegates from the Wellington district are attending the Oddfellows’ Manchester Unity Con- ! ference here. D.G.M. Bro. A. C. Blair is presiding. The delegates were given a civic welcome by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Crewe). Conference stood in silence in respect for departed members.

The Grand Master’s address showed the district' to be very sound numerically and financially. The management committees’ report, also the bal-ance-sheet, were dealt with. Bro. A. Rowden (Eketahuna) was elected District Grand Master, and Bro. G. C. Turner, Deputy Grand Master. The new management committee is Bros. R. B&ll (Newtown), R. Cook (Johnsonville), E. W. Guise (Wellington), L. Kitchen (Upper Hutt), P. M. Smith (Masterton), Sister M. Hargreaves (Wellington). Bro. J, Swanney, P.G., Mangatainoka, was presented with a handsome lodge emblem. The delegates last evening were the guests of the local lodge at a verv largely attended social gathering. The visitors include a number of Hawke’s Bay district officers from Dannevirke.
