CHEMIST’S DISCOVERY AFTER SIX YEARS’ RESEARCH. (Sydney "Sun" Cable.) NEW YORK, March 9 After six years’, research in the laboratory of the University of Illinois a chemical element has been discovered by the use of an X-ray spectroscope and identified as element No. 61, for which ssientists have been searching for years. It is not believed to be radio-active. The discovery was “fide by ‘Dr Hopkins, of the University of Illinois, and Mr »T- Allan jim co-worker, a graduate of the University of" British Columbia.
