THIS WEEK’S PRICES IN THE CITY The following list gives a fair idea of prevailing cash prices in the city:— French and butter beans are 4d lb, peas as cheap as 51b for Is, cabbages 4d to 8d each, marrows 3d to fid each, cucumbers 2d each upwards, lettuce 2d and 3d each. Fruit prices remain the same. Fish is now very plentiful. Flounders are Is lb, hake 9d lb, and smoked fish Is 3d lb. Meat prices are as follow: ——Beef: Sirloin 9d per lb, ribs 7d lb, rolled 7d lb. topside 7d lb. Mutton: Sides 6d, legs 8d lb, rump and fillet steak Is per lb, shoulders 7d. loins 8d lb. anr* frying chops 9d lb. Veal is 9d lb (filleted). Salmon is 6d tin, cooked ham 2s 6d lb, figs 9d box, condensed milk may be bought for 6d a tin, jams are 8d for small tins, tinned asparagus Is 3d tin, good tinned fruits are as cheap as Is 2d tin, good table butter It 7d lb, cooking butter Is 5d lb, eggs 2s dozen.
