HAHN STRIKES FORM fleet-footed' soholz. Per Press Association. HAWERA, Febiuary 4. An athletic meeting was held here yesterday evening, the American athletes, Soholz and Hahn, competing. Tiie track was somewhat soft after recent rain. Good times were put up in all events. Hahn beat the New Zealand record for the half-mile by one and three-fifth seconds, while Scholz won the hundred yaids from scratch, in ten seconds. West Coast runners assembled in force and have every reason to be satisfied with their showing against the American champions. Below are given the results of the races the Americans competed in: 100yds—First heat: Scholz (America) 6cr, I; Maitland (Wanganui), syds, 2. Time, 10 l-ssec. Final : Scholz 1, Rosser 2, Rusdcn (Wanganui) 3. Scholz won a beautifully-judged race by inches. Time, lOsec. 880y<ls—Hahn (America), scr, 1; Gihnour (Nev Plymouth), 25yds, 2; O'Grady (Patea), 75yds, 3. Hahn had the race in hand all the way, and won by twenty yards. Time, Imin 50 l-ssec, heating the New Zealand record by 1 3-ssec. 220yds—First heat: Scholz, scr, 1; Norris (New Plymouth), 12yds, 2. Time, 22sec. Final: Scholz 1, Rosser 2, Torrens (Patea) 3. Scholz came with a great burst over the last few yards, and won by a foot. Time, 22 l-ssec. 200yds West Coast Championship— Telfar (Wanganui), 1; Norris (New Plymouth), 2; Shore (Hawera), -3. Time, 21 3-ssec. 440yds—Maitland (Wanganui), 10 yds, i; Hahn, scr, 2; O’Grady (Patea), 37yds, 3. Maitland ran a fine race, hut Hahn was only a foot behind at the finish. Time, 50 4-ssec.
