S.O.S.FROM OLYMPIC

REPORT DECLARED FALSE LINER STILL IN CHANNEL. Australian and N.Z Cable Association (Received January 28, 11.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 28. Mr P. A. S. Franklin, president of . the International Mercantile Marine, declared the reporta that the White Star liner Olympio is in distress were nonseme. The vessel left Southampton on Wednesday and had not had time to clear the English Channel. The report came from Columbus, Indiana. that an S-Ci.S. call from the Olympia was. believed to have been received over the radio there. Naval communications in Washington did not receive any radio distress call from the Olympic. The Boston steamer Scythia reported early on Wednesday morning that she heard no distress calls from the Olympic, and the Valentia station, in Ireland, reported that it was without information.
