“THE SCARLET WEST.” In addition to the phonofilms f there is a First National attraction, “The Scarlet West,” a gripping tale of the stirring days when the west was the‘home of ‘adventure. The plot is one which holds a universal appeal, and it breathes the atmosphere of aripy post life during the days of .Indian warfare. The film depicts the stpry f of Cardelanche. an-Indian who is sent to the white man’s school to be educated. Uppn his return he refuses to take part in the Indian warfare against the whites. For rescuing a party of soldiers besieged by Indians he is made a captain in the United States Army. His appointment arouses jealousy lamong the white officers. He immediately falls in love with the daughter.of the commander of the arniy post. Buffalo Bill, General Custer, the pony express*, the prairie schooner, and the gold stampedes are all woven into the tale. The story from that point deals with the love affair of Cardelancbe, and its outcome is closely linked with the Custer massacre, which is reproduced in the picture on a gigantic scale. ,
