EASTER CENTRE TOURNEY NO SUBURBS EVENT. Mr S, M. Stone presided at the meeting Of the Wellington Bowling Centro last night. It tfecided to hold Veterans’ Pay oh Tuesday, -February 16th.' Tiki it’ was decided to suggest the postponement of the visit owing to the number of engagements Wellington has in the immediate .'future. Both the Wellington and Victoria Clubs are sending teams away next week and the following week-end. The president said 32 players would be required, and the date originally arranged was February 20th. Air J. S. lyeith thought'the players could be found even if Wellington and Victoria were sending teams away. Finally it was decided to invite clubs to send in the names of those willing to make the journey, and if sufficient were forthcoming to select the teams. Names must be sent by Monday, February Bth A letter from the Marlborough centre stated that! it was proposed to pay a visit to Wellington in February, leaving Blenheim on Thursday,. February 11th, and returning hv the , Tamahine on the following Monday afternoon. It was ejfeected that six rinks would make the trip'. : ■ It. Was 'decided to reply that the visitors could not .be received on the datp suggested owing to the visit of the British howlers, and to ' suggest February 28th. The matter was left in the hands of the committee making the arrangements for the British bowlers. Permission was granted for the play - ing of the Public Bervice bowling tournament next Thursdny. Application was made for permission to ’hold, the Eastern Suburbs tournament at Easter. . _ Mr Meadowcroft moved that .a centre tournament be held to augment the funds of the centre. ' Mr Keith said he would second the proposal on this occasion, as-the centTo had a good deal of expense to meet.in connection with the visit of the British bowlers, and there would be tbe rest Of Veterans’ Day.
