PROGRAMME ARRANGED CLUB GAMES AND ENTERTAINMENT. At the meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre last night, at which the president, Mr S. M. Stone, "was in the chair, the following report was made by the committee appointed to draw up a programme for the entertainment of the British bowlers during their visit to Wellington: Saturday, February 6th: Visitors' arrive by “Tamahine” from Picton, to he conveyed by corporation or other ’buses from steamer to hotel. Sunday, February 7th: Free. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: It was recommended that one game per day bo played in the afternoons against groups of clubs affiliated to the centre. The groups have been arranged as follows, and the days of play were drawn by lot: Monday, February Bth: On Victoria green, againct Victoria, Kelburn, Island Bay and Wellington, _2 1 rinks each. Ladies guests of I ictoria Club. Tuesday, February 9th: On Hataitai green, against Hataitai, Steatoun, Lyall Bay and Newtown, 2 rinks each. Wednesday, February 10th: On Hutt green, against Hutt, Petone, Central, 2 rinks each, Eastbourne and Upper Hutt, 1 rink each. Thursday, February 11th : On Thorndon green, against Thorndon, Karori, and Johnsonville, 2 rinks each, Otaki and Khandallali, 1 rink each. It was’ recommended that the club upon whose green the matches are played should be the. convenor of a meeting of the clubs in the respective groups to decide the nature of the entertainment to be provided, the expense thereof to be borne by the clubß in each group. The centre to provide for the transport of the visitors to and from the greens. Friday, February ,12th: The visitors will bo the guests of the Wellington Bowling Club. Smoke Concert.—This is to be held in the concert chamber, Town Hall, on Wednesday, February 10th. An Invitation "to be given to visitors, and local bowlers; tickets 2s 6d. Sub-committee are to be appointed to carry .out the concert with the recommendation that there he only two toasts—“ The King” and <i The Visitors.” The ladies aie to be entertained at a theatre party on the same evening ns the smoke concert, and by Airs Stone on Thursday afternoon. Mr Hodgins said, like Mr Meadow-croft,-he did not* think much of smoke concerts. He thought they should have a conversazione at which the howlers would have, the opportunity of meeting the ladies of the party as well as the howlers. He also thought arrangements should be made to enable them m the mornings to visit such places as the Gear works, Petone woollen mills and similar industries in the district. The programme proposed was adopt, ed, except that the ladies will be entertained by the president’s wife, Mrs Stone, on Tuesday afternoon. Mr J. Muir raised the question of the test matches, but the chairman replied that it had been found impracticable and that the fairest way of l dealing with the matter was as proposed in the programme. Each mem- j her of the British team is to be pro- ! sented with a Centre badge. Mr Meadowcroft said he hoped clubs would see that . their representatives were provided with club badges to present to the members of the British rinks against whom they playqd. Kelburn Club was having some special badges mado. The president asked that each of the delegates should make representations to their respective teams. THE FRIENDLY BOWL The Wellington Club is sending five I rinks to Christchurch on Friday, February 6th, to meet Christchurch Club m the “Friendly Bowl,” .an annual event held alternately at Wellington and Christchurch.
