Sydney Beer, a young Englisn racehorse owner, sensationally achieved the greatest gambling coup since the war, at Cannes, winning £55,000 in five days at baccarat, including £25,000 in a single day. Beer twice broke the hank. Fortjines changed hands every few minutes. It. is believed that a famous Greek syndicate are the chief losers.
