LONDON, December 15 A somewhat Gilbertian atmosphere marked the strike of 2500 Northern Ireland special constables, aa a protest against their disbandment as a wholetime uniformed force. - The strikers took possession of five of their, barracks at Belfast, and locked opt all-intruders. At Pork Dock nnd several other, stations they locked up their superior officers. Meanwhile the men’s <, executive issued an ultimatum to Sir James Craig demanding £2OO each, tax free, otherwise they would retain possession of the barracks, arms, and ammunition. They refpse to parley till their demand is granted, upon which they undertake not tfcr-gb on the dole for a year.
