At Nelson, Arthur O. Emms, charged with driving, a service car at a speed which might have been _dangerous to the public, was fined £5 and had his license suspended for three months. A Press message from Christchurch states that Mr Cecil George Farrow had a narrow escape from death in the flames which destroyed his home at 462, Selwvn street early yesterday morning. The fire was dtacovered about 3 o’clock by a neighbour whogave the alarm, but Mr Farrow did not know of the outbreak until the brigade arrived. Tlie housp. a sixroomed one, was valued at £6OO and insured for £IOO.
