'BUS WARFARE
FAST-MOVING INFANTRY
KNOWLEDGE FROM MANOEUVRES. Australian and N.Z Cable Association LONDON, September 23. The war in Soutliern England has developed into ’bus warfare. The extraordinary mobility of conveyances frequently enabled the invading force to push hack one double its size. Even after darkness they were found capable of moving forces with extraordinary rapidity. . Once the infantry moved in darkness at a rate of 20 miles an hour. Experts agree that the manoeuvres prove the utility of the new form of merchandised warfare, which cannot be neglected in the future. ' The estimated cost of feeding the troops by canteens is SJd a man daily. Onions are compulsory at all main meals. CAN’T YOU SEE?” The manoeuvres are not without humour. A soldier dragging an obstinate mule in drenching rain across a bridge which fiad been nominally blown up, brought forth a correction from the umpire: “Can’t you see you can’t walk across here?”
The soldier replied: “Can’t you see I’m dashed well swimming?” Heavy storms made the plight of the men wretched. Advanced patrols Without blankets slept in their overcoats and grounu-sheets soaked to the skin. '
Military experts from every country are' solemnly inspecting the muddy troops.
