RECOVERED FROM RIVER
BODY OF A CHILD VICTIM OF MOTOR-ACCIDENT. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, Sept. 24. The body of Leonard Withers, aged five years, the youngest victim of the motoring accident at Rangiotu, between Foxton and Palmerston North on August 16th, was recovered in the Manawatu river yesterday morning, two miles above the Shannon bridge. It will be recalled that a party consisting of Mr and Mrs Withers and their tyro boys, aged 12 and 5 years respectively, were returning from a visit to the American Fleet, when the car broke through the road at the entrance to the. bridge over the Oroua river, and fell in deep water below. Only Mr Withers escaped, the others being imprisoned in the curtained car and drowned.
