HARBOUR BOARD

ONLY THE BRIGHT SIDS WHAT ABOUT HODSING CONDI* TIONS Mr M. Cohen presided at the meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board last night. Referring to the Wellington publicity campaign and meeting, the chairman said that Councillor Tnoup presented the case in a nutshell when ne said that while they knew a good deal of New Zealand in New Zealand, very little was known outside. Any publicity work should be done overseas. Mr C. H. Chapman remarked that in Wellington they r had a way of advertis-ing-favourable features and carefully ignoring unfavourable features, and one particularly unfavourable- feature tu the regrettable shortage of housing accommodation. Men were brought out on contract work and were surprised when they found that rent took one-third to half of their wages. He hoped the publicity committee would bear it in mind and not pretend everything in the garden was lovely in order to make people believe things that were net as they were represented to be. The chairman said he looked upon New Zealand as one of the most wonderful countries of the world. Mr G. Mitchell was appointed as a the board's representative to the publicity committee.
