THE AVONDALE MEETING With the approach, of the Avondale meeting, the trainers at Ellerslie are sending their charges along when opportunity offers (says a northern correspondent). The t weather has been extremely' wet. and this has kept some of the horses backward in condition, owing to being unable to get sufficient fast work. The fields promise to be large at Avondale, and a highly successful meeting is expected. The fancies for the Avondale Cup take a wide range, and the event is considered very open.
