AT HUSBAND’S EXPENSE WAR BRIDE’S FINANCING. The story of a woman who was separated from her husband, but who operated on his banking account by the issuing of two substantial cheques to which she signed his name, was unfolded in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M. The accused’s name was sup-
pressed. Chief-Detective Kemp, who prosecuted, said that the accused, who was separated from her husband, issued two cheques, one of £2O and the other of £lO, and had obtained £2l 11s in goods. Shortly after she had left' her husband she was living with another man, but had since obtained .employment. She was a war bride, although she belonged to an Australian family.
His Worship: Has she any particular vices ?
The Chief Detective: Nothing has begin known cl her previously. The Magistrate said that he would sentenoe the accused to two years’ probation, a condition being that she refund the money at the rate of 30s a fortnight out of her wages of £2 ss.
