DITTY ON FOWL WHEAT
STATEMENT BY MINISTER IMPORTATIONS. NECESSARY. The Minister for Agriculture announces that, in consideration of the fact that local supplies of fowl wheat are now limited, and that considerable importation will, during the next few months, be necessary, Government has decided to suspend, as from November Ist, 1925, the duty, other than primage duty, on wheat to he imported for sale and distribution as poultry food. It must be noted that this suspension of duty does not become operative immediately, and that when it does take effect the full duty must be paid on all imports which are not covered by a permit issuable by the Department of Industries and Commerce. Before arranging importations, importers must accordingly secure, by application to the Department of Industries and Commerce, Private Bag, Wellington,' -a nermit for the quantity which it is desired to bring in. Permits will not he issued otherwise than to recognised merchant* distributors, and the quantity for which permits will he issued will he limited
