REMUERA HOUSE RANSACKED WATCH ANDMONEY TAKEN. Burglars are still active 'in Auckland suburbs. -Last week several dwellings , near Mount Albert,. Mount Eden,, and Dominion road trim termini were entered nnd completely ransacked, while on Friday evening between 7 and 9 o’clock the house of Mr W. J. Hoskin, No. 6, Westbourne road, Remuera, .was broken into. ' Entrance was effected through a window in the scullery. Every room in the house was thoroughly ransacked.. Evidently the thief or thieves were in search of money. They secured £1 10s, which was in a purse, and stole a money-box containing 40 threepenny pieces, a watch, and a blue serge suit. Although some valuable jewellery was left exposed, it was not even touched. Early yesterday morning an attempt was made to break into two shops at Avondale. A glass.panel in the door of Messrs Tierney and Son’s; tobacconists, was broken close to the spring lock, but another lock fitted lower down prevented an entrance being gained. An unsuccessful attempt was also made on the door of Miss Tierney’s tea rooms.
