ALMOST A HURRICANE
GALE AT AUCKLAND NEW HOUSE BLOWN AWAY. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 21. A severe westerly gale was experienced during the week-and. The framework of a new house at Mount Albert was levelled, some of the material being blown twenty to thirty yards away, and lences were wrecked and window panes were cracked, by a hard gale on the west coast, which was almost of hurricane foroe. ’lt lifted the verandah roof of the signalman’s house at Manukau heads and carried it half a mile away. The bar has been unworkable since Saturday afternoon.
