PARLIAMENT HOUSES GUTTED Renter's Telegram. TOKIO, September IS. Fire destroyed tho Diet (Parliament) Buildings, both Houses being gutted. (Received September SO, 5.5 p.m.) Th* fir© is believed to have been due tr, the carelessness of workmen when carrying out repairs in the Upper House. The fin tiles spread rapidly, enveloping both the Diet buildings, but as was no wind the other buildings threatened were spared. Troops and poVev controlled the- large crowd. After raging fiercely foi more than mi hour the flames were controlled, though they arc still smouldering. Most of the valuable documents arc reported to have been saved, but the libnuy was completely destroyed, -and the buildings, were gutted.
