DIVORCED AS A JEW
MARRIED AS A CHRISTIAN CLERGYMAN IN A TANGLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 29. The Rev. Aaron Suffrin, Anglican vicar of Waterlooville, near Pocrsmouth, is the central figure in a strange nullity suit. Suffrin is a Rumanian Jew who was converted to Christianity in 1005. His English wife, whom he married , in 1906, alleges that he has a wife still living in Rumania, whom he married in 1872 when he was -18. The legitimacy of three children of the English marriage is at stake. Suffrm gave evidence that his five brothers and brothersrin-law forced him into the first marriage to prevent him from joining the Greek Church, but he was divorced in 1874 under the Jewish law, though this was without effect in Rumania. Suffrin admitted describing himself as a widower at the time of his remarriage, as he regarded* a divorced man and. a widower as synonymous terms. His wife was only tolti the facts in 1912. The case was adjourned to obtain evidence regarding the Rumanian law.
