standardisation urged
When the works committee recommended to the City Couficil last night that tenders be called for the purchase of 12 motor wagons and a car at a cost 1 of for use in connection with the 1925 paving loan work. Councillor A. L. Monteith, M.P., asked if the council were going to standardise their wagons. They had now almost every description of car. ■ The Mayor said hat it was hoped that certa'in specifications would be brought down. They could say when they were advertising for tenders that they intended to standardise heir cars. .... . . Councillor J. Bums said that _ he agreed with the principle of standardisation, but it had an objectionable feature in that it gave oR the custom to one firm. „ ... The Mayor stated that he would give the council an opportunity of voting on the matter at the next meeting.
