SCHOOL DESTROYED
TECHNICAL INSTITUTION WOODWORK DEPARTMENT BURNT. - Per Press Association TIMARU,, July 24. Shortly after 4 o’clock this morning, the Are brigade received a call to the Teohnical School, where it was found the woodwork department, owned by the Education Board, and in which was much valuable machinery and timber, was in flames. The fire had a strong hold, and as it was impossible to save the building the brigade concentrated its efforts on preventing the. flames spreading to the adjoining premises situated close by. In this it was completely successful. The outbreak resulted in the total destruction of the building where ' it originated. The loss will he severe, and will interrupt the activities of the school in that department. It is understood there were no insurances.
