GREAT STORM IN EUROPE
FLOODS ALL OVER ENGLAND PEOPLE KILLED BY LIGHTNING. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, July 23. Destruqtive thunderstorms raged all night, stretching from the Pyrenees to tho (Scottish highlands, doing widespread damage; which was due to unusually big hailstones. Floods prevail all over the country, and 200 families at Birmingham were flooded out and only escaped in their nightclothes, several houses collapsing. Lightning destroyed the tower of the Canadian pavilion at Wembley, a.nd the falling debris knocked out the side of the 'pavilion, rain damaging the exhibits. Several people were killed by lightning.
