A SHORTER WEEK
WILL INJURE THE WORKERS MANUFACTURERS’ PROTEST. By Telpgraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 22. In an open letter to the Premier; the executive of the Chamber of Manufacturers urges that the adoption of the 44-hour week must inevitably bring loss to the workers in diminished employment, to the public in increased costs of commodities, and to the manufacturer and the State in the decreased possibilities of expansion in industry. It suggests that New South Woles should postpone the introduction of the shortened week till the other States of the Commonwealth are ready to take similar action.
