The management committee of the Seamen’s Union is still considering the shipowners’ terms, and will probably submit counter-proposals for an amended log of wages and conditions. The power and light-producing unions held a conference with the marine transport group of unions, and considered the immediate policy of the industrial movement generally. . Tne conference adjourned until Monday, with a view to getting uniform action throughout the Commonwealth. This adjournment is taken as an indication that the seamen will not accept the owners’ terms. SYDNEY, July 22. About 12,000 men engaged in the mining industry on the northern and southern coalfields have been thrown out of work as the result of the shipping hold-up. It is likely, unless the trouble is soon settled, that operations on the mining areas will be brought to a complete standstill. Respecting the proposal for a State shipping service, Mr J. T. Lang, Premier of liew South Wales, states that he has had offers of numerous ships. He added that ample wharfage .accommodation would be available to the State if it were needed. The Government was still in touch with other Labour. Administrations throughout the Commonwealth on the subject of State-owned ships.'
